Zoom to offer free automatic captions to all users by autumn 2021

As reported by Limping Chicken here the video conferencing app Zoom has announced that it plans to make automatic captions free and available to all users by the autumn.

They really should have sorted it by now. Not only that, Autumn is still a long time for those of us who find Zoom calls inaccessible. However, it is better late than never so I suppose there is some light at the end of the tunnel.

In the meantime until the feature’s broader release, they will also be offering automatic closed captioning to meeting hosts who need accommodation upon request.

Users who wish to access automatic captions are asked to sign up using an online form, when they will then receive a confirmation email containing more information.
