Legally Disabled, The Law Society and its Lawyers with Disabilities Division (now Disabled Solicitors Network) have been working together to share the research findings and develop guidance to support organisations with implementing the recommendations from the ‘Legally Disabled?’ report.
They are currently running a series of roundtables, which provides a practical and constructive overview of the research findings and recommendations. They also facilitate discussions about actions and ‘easy wins’ to support firms and organisations to identify opportunities and challenges for improving disability inclusion.
I attended their first roundtable and will do a write up on this shortly.
There are a number of further upcoming roundtables that you can sign up to if you missed the first one:
- Monday 11 May 12.30–14.00
- Friday 22 May 12.30–14.00
- Wednesday 27 May 9.30–11.00
- Tuesday 2 June 16.00–17.30
If you would like to attend, email lawyerswithdisabilities@LawSociety.org.uk specifying which roundtable.
The Roundtables are being held by Zoom.
For me this roundtable was the first Zoom call I had actually managed to attend. So it was my first time trying it and I have not yet fully investigated the possibility of subtitles. However, as it was a small morning group with video I could lip read the session.
The Legally Disabled conference report and all of the research reports can be downloaded from their website.
